Winter’s 2,100 square-foot renovation of the Top Shop and Top Man sales areas in Nordstrom began with demolition, followed by the installation of all new finishes to support the store’s rebranding. The scope of work included concrete repair and polishing, installation of new sales fixtures, racks, hanging racks, flooring transition strips, and magnet wall covering. All of the work done by Winter’s SPACES team was performed at night and the construction site was kept isolated from the surrounding store areas, people, and merchandise by using a negative air and fame resistant enclosure, allowing Nordstrom to continue operations without disruption from dust, noise, and vibration. The store remained fully operational while work was underway, and the project was completed on schedule, allowing the sales area to reopen on time.

Winter helped turn an airport concourse shop into a high-end Brooks Brothers boutique for savvy traveling shoppers. Winter performed the complete renovation of 900 square feet of retail space on Concourse E, including a decorative ceiling with detailed trim work, tile floors, feature walls, and display fixtures, along with all new electrical, mechanical, and reprotection systems. All work was performed at night in an occupied environment.

The Wall Street Journal News is a new 160 square-foot space in Concourse E at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The store features fixtures and display cases that are strategically arranged for fast access by busy travelers. Renovation work entailed demolition, all new finishes, and new lighting and fixtures.

Pier Park is a 200,000 square-foot lifestyle center in Panama City Beach, Florida. The center consists of seven buildings and is situated on 100 acres. The exterior walls are constructed using tilt-up concrete and interior structural steel framing for the roof. The exterior trim elements combine several different construction materials including hard coat stucco, cast stone, hardi-plank siding, trellis canopies, metal sloped roofs, and high decorative towers. The center is anchored by several large restaurants and shops, including Margaritaville, Backporch, Red Brick Pizza, Ron Jon Surf Shop, Seattle’s Best Coffee, Panera Bread, and Five Guys Famous Burgers & Fries. Winter constructed both Phase I and Phase II of the project.

The Food Court refresh is the second renovation project that Winter has completed in the mall, having renovated the entire mall in the 90’s. The scope of work for the project involved demolition and build-out of the entire interior and the new flooring, ceiling, and pillars which gives the food court an updated look more in line with the rest of the mall’s interiors. The food court was renovated in an occupied environment, and all work was methodically performed in order to keep the 20 food court restaurants dust-free and fully operational. Finishes included raising softs, floating cloud ceilings, halo-lit column capitals, over 500 linear feet of LED light coves, porcelain tile shipped from Italy, 3-form light boxes, new custom tenant signage, refinishing of the wood ceilings, eggshell paint, and custom stain-grade trim. All new column covers were finished with 36” long porcelain reclaimed wood planks and installed according to precise dimensions as required by the banquette manufacturer.

Winter constructed the new 78,710 square-foot Neiman Marcus in Charlotte, North Carolina. The two-level building is over a one-story parking area with additional provisions made for a third-floor addition. The structure is a steel frame with composite decking and concrete slabs on both floors and roof. The exterior of the project meshes four different types of exterior work in several different planes. The exterior skin is a mixture of brick, stone panels, EIFS, and a store front system on metal studs. This creates a different look than usually seen in an anchor store. The entire first floor is slab on deck over a parking lot and crawl space. At the exterior of the 4th side, the building ties back into slab on grade.

Winter constructed 1,950 square feet of a divided retail tenant and bakery concession space in the new Maynard H. Jackson International Terminal at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The retail areas are located above the new International Terminal conveyance system. To avoid collision with the conveyance system, Winter used sonogram before beginning work to identify the location of existing pre-cast tension cables. This uncovered discrepancies between the structural engineer’s plan and the existing utilities. Because the Winter team caught this potential problem early, they were able to relocate 50% of the plumbing, without affecting the schedule or budget, and successfully install the plumbing cores, soda line systems, and floor sinks. Despite the initial challenges, the entire project was completed in less than eight weeks in the fully operational airport environment.
